These dee shackles have an endless list of uses but the main use is for attaching to rope and chain. The captive pin help to reduce the risk of losing the pin as the pin will need to be unscrewed twice before it detaches from the shackle. These are hugely popular with the marine industry as they are manufactured from 316 grade stainless steel giving them the best rust protection.
